HTC Corporation, earlier known as High Tech Computer Corporation, is engaged in the manufacture of smartphones and tablets from Taiwan. HTC is a member of the Open Handset Alliance, the group of handset manufacturers and mobile network operators that is dedicated to advancing the Android platform. Founded in 1997, HTC originally manufactured notebook computers until it started designing touch and wireless hand held devices in 1998. The company diversified its product range over the years and has entered the tablet market. Its tablet computer HTC Flyer (also known as the HTC EVO View 4G) comes with a single-core 1.5 GHz CPU, runs on 2.3.3 (Gingerbread), can be updated up to Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 through the use of custom ROM’s.
