Sansui Television belongs to Sansui Electric Co., Ltd. a Tokyo based manufacturer of audio and video equipment. Sansui is part of Grande Holdings, a Chinese-Hong Kong conglomerate that owns the brands Akai and Nakmichi. Sansui began by manufacturing transformers in its early years and then moved into audio components. In the 1960s and 1970s Sansui’s audio range was highly acclaimed and soon after Sansui began manufacture of high-end television sets and other video equipment. The company changed its strategy and started using video equipment manufactured by other companies in the 1990s thereby changing consumer perception from being a high-end electronic manufacturer to becoming a popular lower end model.
